Why is this book filled with images of s*x and p**nography hosted in school and public libraries?
Pardon my language in this post but...what the actual fuuuck?
***CONTENT WARNING** these are excerpts from a book called Let's Talk About It that is available in school and public library TEEN sections throughout the United States and beyond.
This book literally features p0rnographic images of people fornicating
encourages readers to "research fantasies and kinks safely on the internet" and “pay for porn”
while referring to p0rn as a "fun sugary treat".
It also shares a how-to guide for masturbation…
That's just the short list of what's included. Here's a more complete set of quotes and images from the book for those who care to see all the gory details.
I'm not even sure how this is allowed or how more people don't have a problem with this. Or do people just not know about it so it's flying under the radar?
If families want to read these types of books, then that's their prerogative and right but honestly this kind of thing kind of proves the point that us “weird folks” are making that that our youth are being 'groomed' by the entertainment industry and the public schooling system, while parent’s rights are being overrun. There are plenty of other resources that can fulfill the important task of learning how to navigate consent, boundaries, diversity, and one's own personal development, so I don’t even want to hear that “what if”!
In my teenage and early 20s, I certainly was on the consuming end of a lot of propaganda through the entertainment and porn industry which absolutely influenced me negatively, developing unhealthy addictions and toxic perspectives regarding sex and relationships, which required a lot of introspection, healing, and effort to break!
I’m not in favor of banning books, but that doesn’t mean that we need to house or promote this to our youth at large through public institutions.
So yeah, can some help me find out what the actual fuck is going on here?
